If you wish to join the dōjō, we strongly recommend you observe or join a session first. Please contact the dōjō via the Contact page. In principle, we accept students of elementary school age and older. However, parents/guardians must enquire in advance about those younger than high school age, and cases are decided on an individual basis.

It is compulsory for all members to take out sports insurance. Costs vary by age and start at ¥800 per fiscal year. As we are affiliated to the Fukuoka Kendō Federation, there are annual costs that vary by grade. Members are not required to join the Federation; however, if you wish to grade, you will eventually need to become a member.

Observers don’t need to bring anything. If you wish to join a session or have just started, you will need to wear suitable clothing that is easy to move in. If you already have a kendō or other martial arts uniform, please let us know. We can lend belts, knee pads and wooden swords to beginners. Eventually, members are required to purchase a white iai uniform, including a jacket, belt, hakama , knee pads and also a suitable iaitō sword*. *Many swords are made for decorative purposes and are dangerous when used for iai practice. If you are considering purchasing a sword, you must consult with sensei first.

We train every Tuesday from 19:30–22:00. There are also local seminars and events that members can join. Please contact us via the Contact page before coming to a session.
